ERP & Hosting Migration Programme Manager

Duration: Fixed-term Contract or Consultancy Inside/Outside IR35 (4-6 months)
Location: Remote with infrequent office visits to Chepstow and Solihull
Responsible to: Group Head of IT

Purpose of Role

TXO is undertaking a strategic programme to migrate its Sage X3 ERP platform and associated business systems from its current infrastructure to a new third-party managed hosting provider.

The successful candidate will lead the end-to-end procurement, supplier selection and migration programme, coordinating multiple internal and external stakeholders to deliver a secure, resilient and fully tested hosting platform.

The role is responsible for driving programme governance, supplier engagement, commercial negotiations, planning and execution, whilst ensuring all workstreams remain aligned to agreed business objectives and delivery milestones.

The role requires an individual capable of operating at the intersection of technology, procurement, programme delivery and stakeholder management.

Specific Responsibilities

The following outlines the primary areas of responsibility. Additional responsibilities or functions may be required as necessary to support the business.

Supplier Engagement & Procurement

  • Lead the hosting provider selection process from initial market engagement through to contract award.
  • Manage RFIs, RFPs, supplier evaluations and commercial discussions.
  • Coordinate technical, operational, security, service management and commercial assessments.
  • Work closely with Legal, Finance and IT stakeholders during contract negotiations.
  • Ensure supplier responses are evaluated consistently against agreed selection criteria.
  • Drive commercial negotiations to secure optimal service, support, performance and pricing outcomes.

Programme Leadership

  • Establish and maintain overall programme governance.
  • Develop and manage integrated project plans covering all workstreams.
  • Manage programme budgets, risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies.
  • Chair project meetings and steering groups.
  • Produce regular status reporting for senior leadership.
  • Drive decision-making and escalation where required.
  • Maintain programme momentum and accountability across all parties.

Technical Delivery Coordination

  • Whilst not expected to be the technical solution architect, the Project Manager will coordinate specialist teams responsible for technical design and implementation.
  • This includes:
    • Hosting provider infrastructure teams.
    • TXO IT infrastructure and security teams.
    • Sage X3 implementation partner (Inixion).
    • Application owners and business stakeholders.
    • Integration and development resources.
  • The Project Manager will ensure all technical deliverables are planned, tracked and completed in accordance with programme requirements.

Application Migration Coordination

  • Coordinate migration activities for:
    • Sage X3 environments.
    • Microsoft SQL Server databases.
    • iTRAC platform.
    • Integration services.
    • SFTP interfaces.
    • hMail services.
    • PDF eXplode.
    • Monitoring and management platforms.
    • Backup and disaster recovery services.
    • Other dependent business applications and interfaces.

Testing & Business Readiness

  • Develop and manage testing strategy.
  • Coordinate infrastructure, system integration, performance, disaster recovery and user acceptance testing.
  • Ensure business stakeholders are engaged throughout testing phases.
  • Manage defect resolution activities across suppliers and internal teams.
  • Obtain formal business acceptance prior to production cutover.
  • Coordinate go-live readiness reviews and final deployment approvals.

Cutover & Go-Live

  • Develop and manage migration and cutover plans.
  • Coordinate rehearsals and dress rehearsals where required.
  • Manage go-live governance and decision making.
  • Ensure post-migration support arrangements are in place.
  • Oversee transition into business-as-usual service management.

About You

Essential Experience

  • Proven track record delivering infrastructure hosting or datacentre migration projects.
  • Strong supplier management and third-party governance experience.
  • Significant experience running technology procurement exercises and supplier selection processes.
  • Experience negotiating managed service contracts and commercial agreements.
  • Experience delivering Windows Server and Microsoft-based infrastructure programmes.
  • Excellent risk, dependency and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with external implementation partners and managed service providers.
  • Strong executive communication and reporting capability.

Desirable Experience

  • ERP migration or transformation programmes.
  • Sage X3 environments.
  • Microsoft SQL Server platforms.
  • Managed hosting and cloud transformation projects.
  • International or multi-country deployments.
  • ITIL-based service management environments.

Success Measures

  • Hosting provider successfully selected and contracted.
  • Programme delivered within agreed timescales.
  • Sage X3 and dependent applications migrated successfully.
  • No unplanned business-critical service disruption.
  • Successful completion of testing and user acceptance.
  • Positive stakeholder feedback from business and technical teams.
  • Seamless transition to operational support.
