Job Title: Estate Porter
Salary: £27,548.13 per annum
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 39 hours per week
Transport options available
Live-in accommodation may be available for exceptional candidates.
This role is based on-site at Langdale Hotel and Spa, Ambleside, LA22 9JD.
Role Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking Estate Porter to support the Housekeeping team in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, stock control, and guest service across our hotel rooms, lodges and wider Estate. This varied and physically active role is essential to the smooth operation of the Estate. The successful candidate will be responsible for linen distribution and control, housekeeping support, stock replenishment, public area presentation, and ensuring accommodation and guest facilities remain well-equipped, safe, and welcoming at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Linen & Stock Management
- Manage the distribution, collection, and storage of all linen, towelling, and housekeeping supplies across the Estate.
- Ensure linen exchanges are accurately completed and discrepancies are investigated and reported.
- Receive, check, and store deliveries, reporting any shortages or inconsistencies.
- Monitor stock levels and replenish housekeeping supplies, guest amenities, and consumables as required.
- Maintain accurate stock control records and support inventory management processes.
- Count, process, and record rejected or damaged linen for replacement.
Housekeeping Support
- Assist the Housekeeping team in maintaining exceptional cleanliness standards throughout guest accommodation and public areas.
- Support accommodation servicing and cleaning activities when required.
- Deliver and set up extra beds, cots, and other guest equipment, ensuring all items are clean, safe, and in a good working order.
- Participate in turndown service and other housekeeping duties during busy periods.
- Ensure corridors, service areas, linen rooms, and storage spaces remain clean, organised, and free from obstructions.
Estate Presentation & Guest Experience
- Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of public areas, back-of-house locations, and guest facilities across the Estate.
- Provide a friendly, professional, and helpful service to guests.
- Respond positively to guest requests and support the delivery of exceptional guest experiences.
- Ensure all areas are visually appealing, well-stocked, and presented to the highest standards.

Safety, Maintenance & Compliance
- Report maintenance issues, damage, or safety concerns promptly and in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensure all housekeeping equipment and storage areas are maintained safely and correctly.
- Adhere to all health and safety, hygiene, security, and environmental procedures.
- Support waste management and recycling processes, including the safe disposal of rubbish and operation of equipment where authorised.
- Remain vigilant to ensure the safety and security of guests, colleagues, and Estate property at all times.
Teamwork & General Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with Housekeeping, Stores, Maintenance, and other departments to ensure efficient Estate operations.
- Assist in training or supporting team members undertaking porter and linen duties where required.
- Maintain a professional appearance and high personal standards in accordance with company policies.
- Complete all required records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the Executive Housekeeping Manager, Housekeeping Deputy Managers, or Management Team.

- Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual handling duties and a varied workload.
- Organised, reliable, and able to manage stock levels and multiple priorities effectively.
- Proactive in identifying maintenance, cleanliness, or operational issues and taking appropriate action.
- Works well independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing business needs.
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Previous experience in housekeeping, linen services, porter duties, hospitality, or stock control is desirable but not essential.
- Willing to learn, develop new skills, and contribute positively to the wider Estate team.
- Has a full, clean driving licence (preferred).
