Job Overview
The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Estates Officer - Electrical Engineering to join our Estates and Facilities team. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified electrical engineering professional to play a key role in maintaining and developing the Trust's critical infrastructure across our hospital sites.
Reporting to the Estates Manager, you will provide specialist technical expertise and operational support for a wide range of electrical systems, including high and low voltage installations, emergency generators, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, building management systems, and associated infrastructure. You will ensure compliance with statutory regulations, lead on specialist maintenance activities, support capital and replacement programmes, and contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the Trust's estate.
The successful candidate will be a qualified electrician with substantial experience in electrical engineering maintenance, strong knowledge of statutory compliance requirements, and the ability to manage competing priorities within a complex operational environment. As part of this role, you will participate in the Estates on-call rota, providing critical support in response to site emergencies and business continuity incidents.

Main Duties of the Job
- Contribute to the development, implementation and review of the trusts Estates Strategy and to work closely with the Estates Managers in the development of plant replacement programmes for designed site services.
- Contribute to the development of a maintenance department workforce plan.
- Provide highly specialist technical support and advice to the Estates Managers as required.
- Provide detailed advice and support on record keeping for legislative compliance.
- Provide cover for the other Estates managers in their absence.
- Undertake the specialist lead/responsible/authorised person and/or support role for the following technical site wide services: High Voltage Electrical systems, Low Voltage Electrical Services Emergency backup generators, Fire alarm systems, Lifts and lifting equipment.

The post holder will have to be able to work on HV & LV electrical systems, emergency backup generators, fire alarm systems, lifts and lifting equipment and building management systems.

- Be able to prioritise own workload, able to respond to emergency situations and understand the correct routes of escalation and communication.
- To be able to work on own, with other members of the maintenance team, senior managers, regulators/ inspectors and the capital projects team.
