Your New Role
As Estates & Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for the effective delivery of Estates & Facilities services across several properties, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient working environments. Reporting to the Regional Estates & Facilities Manager, you will lead predominantly soft FM services, manage contractors and direct reports, oversee budgets and projects, and act as the key point of contact for site stakeholders.
This is a varied leadership role combining operational facilities management, statutory compliance, project delivery, budget management, and stakeholder engagement within a highly regulated environment.
The role is temporary for approximately 6 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the delivery of Estates & Facilities services across multiple operational sites.
- Act as the primary point of contact for site stakeholders, customers, and occupiers.
- Lead and manage facilities staff, contractors, and specialist service providers.
- Oversee hard and soft FM services including maintenance, cleaning, security, reception, catering, waste, and grounds maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, environmental, and health & safety requirements.
- Manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance programmes.
- Monitor contractor performance through service level agreements and key performance indicators.
- Prepare and manage operational budgets and authorise expenditure within delegated limits.
- Lead capital works, refurbishment, and facilities improvement projects.
- Undertake risk assessments and manage permit-to-work systems.
- Maintain asset registers, statutory records, and compliance documentation.
- Support business continuity planning and emergency response activities.
- Produce reports and provide specialist Estates & Facilities advice to senior stakeholders.
- Manage space planning, workplace changes, and accommodation projects.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
- Liaise with landlords, local authorities, healthcare partners, and regulatory bodies.
- Deputise for the Regional Estates & Facilities Manager when required.
- Participate in an on-call rota supporting regional facilities operations.

What You'll Need to Succeed
- Proven Facilities Management or Estates Management experience within a complex multi-site environment.
- Experience managing soft FM services.
- Experience from within a regulated healthcare environment would be preferable.
- Knowledge of using CAFM systems.
- Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, health & safety, and building regulations.
- Experience managing contractors, suppliers, and service delivery partners.
- Budget management and project delivery experience.
- Strong stakeholder management and customer service skills.
- Experience developing and monitoring SLAs, KPIs, and service standards.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across a regional property portfolio.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience within healthcare, NHS, laboratory, pharmaceutical, or other regulated environments would be advantageous.
- IOSH, NEBOSH, IWFM, or relevant Estates/Facilities qualifications would be beneficial.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Location: Across Manchester and Liverpool sites, plus local satellite sites.
Pay: £25.26 per hour (If through an umbrella company, pay would be £34.20)
