About The Role
We are looking for a committed and customer-focused Estate Housing Officer to join our Estate Services team.
You will provide an important point of contact for residents and support the effective delivery of estate services within a designated area. Working as part of an Area Team, you will help deliver a responsive service that meets the needs of Sheffield residents.
This is a varied and practical role involving work with residents, colleagues, contractors, partner organisations and local community groups. You will provide a professional, accessible and high-quality service, with a strong emphasis on customer care, consultation and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out health and safety inspections.
- Support the enforcement of tenancy conditions.
- Manage repair and maintenance matters.
- Investigate and manage environmental issues.
- Visit residents in their homes.
- Provide information and advice by telephone, email, letter and face to face.
- Collect, record and collate statistical and operational information.
- Liaise with contractors and partner agencies to ensure required services are delivered.
- Contribute to the development of local communities and estate services.
- Support stock control, budgeting and other relevant aspects of the Area Team’s work.
- Contribute to the development of policies and working practices.
- Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies and challenging situations.
Please note: Occasional attendance at meetings outside normal office hours may be requested, although this is not mandatory.
About You
We are looking for someone who can:
- Communicate effectively with residents, colleagues and external organisations, both remotely and face to face.
- Represent Sheffield City Council positively and professionally.
- Deliver excellent customer service in a high-profile service environment.
- Interpret and follow relevant policies, procedures and legislation.
- Organise and prioritise their workload, using initiative and working flexibly.
- Remain calm and effective when dealing with emergencies or difficult situations.
- Complete written records and handle basic numerical information accurately.
- Use computers, keyboard-based systems and new technology in a customer-centred environment.
- Demonstrate a clear commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
