Estates Maintenance Technician

About the Role

As an Estates Maintenance Technician, you’ll be a member of the Estates Delivery discipline within UK Defence Operations. The role will provide support and leadership to deliver high-quality Estates Maintenance services to our customers.

Day by day, you’ll primarily focus on the coordination and performance of key compliance activities across the site, serving as the responsible or competent person for the following areas:

  • Asbestos management
  • Legionella management
  • F-Gas (FGAS) management

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake Building Services tasks assigned by a Functional Manager or Delivery Lead
  • Coordinate legionella management for site(s), including:
    • Maintenance of site risk assessments
    • Implementation and monitoring of control regimes
    • Tracking ongoing performance records
  • Coordinate asbestos management for site(s), including:
    • Maintenance of site registers
    • Inspection programmes
    • Training and informational needs
  • Coordinate FGAS (F-Gas) management for site(s), including:
    • Maintenance of site registers
    • Inspection programmes
    • Training and informational needs
  • Analyse compliance arrangements and performance
    • Identify and propose opportunities for improvement

Essential Experience

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Understanding and practical experience of Asbestos, Legionella, and F-Gas management requirements
  • Working knowledge of key health & safety legislation
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and IT applications
  • Ability to make informed, autonomous decisions based on experience and knowledge
  • A commitment to continuous improvement (both personal and process-driven)

Essential Qualifications

  • Attained a Level 3 NVQ in engineering or technical disciplines, or similar OR
  • Provided evidence of recent administrative experience in a comparable role

Location & Working Arrangements

  • 37 hours per week
  • Located at Boscombe Down site
  • Minimum average five days per week attendance
  • Compressed hours may also be available

MOD Boscombe Down is a key operational site featuring the longest military runway in the UK. Specialising in delivering testing, evaluation, and support services for aviation and aerospace systems, it plays a critical role in:

  • Developing and testing military aircraft
  • Ensuring airworthiness and operational readiness
  • Enhancing UK aviation defence capabilities

Security Clearance Requirement
