Estates Officer

Develop your property career in a varied role supporting the management, valuation and disposal of a substantial land and property portfolio, with hybrid working, professional development and exposure to a broad range of estate management activities.

This role is recognised internally as an Estates and Disposals Technician.

SALARY: £29,719 - £31,691 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Hybrid / Matlock, Derbyshire, East Midlands

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week. Hybrid working arrangements are available subject to service requirements and can be discussed further at interview.

JOB OVERVIEW

This is an excellent opportunity for an Estates Officer to develop their experience across estate management, property assets and disposals within a professional property environment.

Working alongside surveyors, disposals and asset management colleagues, the Estates Officer will support acquisitions, lettings, lease events, valuations, inspections and the disposal of surplus land and buildings.

The Estates Officer will also manage property casework, maintain accurate asset information, analyse financial and performance data and liaise with tenants, contractors, agents, solicitors and other stakeholders.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Estates Officer include:

  • Estate and Property Management: Support the acquisition, management, valuation, marketing and disposal of land, buildings and surplus property assets.
  • Leases and Tenant Matters: Assist with lettings, leases, licences, rent reviews, renewals, negotiations, tenant enquiries and associated documentation.
  • Property Inspections and Surveys: Undertake inspections, condition surveys, dilapidation reports and photographic records to support asset evaluation and maintenance planning.
  • Financial and Property Analysis: Collate and analyse property, financial and performance information, including service charges, income, insurance valuations and invoices.
  • Property Records and Systems: Maintain accurate asset and disposal records using corporate databases, EDRM, asset management systems and digital mapping tools.
  • Caseload and Stakeholder Coordination: Manage allocated cases and coordinate with tenants, contractors, agents, solicitors, colleagues, external agencies and members of the public.
  • Technical Support and Reporting: Investigate enquiries and prepare reports, plans, drawings, schedules, specifications and other technical or operational information.
  • Compliance and Improvement: Support health and safety, data protection, audit requirements and continuous improvement of property systems and working practices.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Experience in property, estates, land, asset management, a technical environment, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with experience of data processing and reporting.
  • Experience using computerised systems and databases to manage property, financial and asset information.
  • Ability to manage an individual caseload, competing priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to understand property, legal and financial matters and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Relevant HND/HNC (or equivalent) with appropriate experience, or relevant practical knowledge gained through formal training and considerable job experience.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Current UK compliant driving licence and own transport, or the ability to travel across Derbyshire for meetings, inspections and site visits.
  • Must already have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
