The Role
Wimbledon High School is looking for a hands-on, proactive person who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a busy, supportive team.
As an Estates Operative at Wimbledon High School, you will make a visible difference every day. Working as part of our friendly and supportive Estates team, you will help care for our buildings and grounds, respond to maintenance needs and ensure that students, colleagues and visitors enjoy a safe, secure and well-run environment.
No two days will be the same. You might be completing a minor repair, preparing spaces for a school event, carrying out site checks, supporting a delivery or helping to resolve an issue before it disrupts the school day. You will be trusted to use your initiative, work collaboratively and take pride in getting things done well.
What You Will Do
- Carry out minor DIY repairs and general building maintenance
- Help with furniture moves, deliveries, room set-ups and school events
- Keep the site tidy and support security patrols, inspections and compliance checks
- Support contractors and help ensure their work is carried out safely
- Play an active part in fire safety, first aid and wider emergency arrangements
- Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the school site

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
