The Role

The Estates Project Manager will lead the delivery of allocated QinetiQ Estates projects UK-wide to ensure a high level of service delivery.

Day to day, you will hold responsibility for the full project management lifecycle from planning through to execution on a variety of projects. These will vary from general building maintenance and refurbishment through to more technical requirements/repairs and even new build construction.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Organise the Estates projects, the project team and its delivery
  • Integrate the project team within the business and ensuring that a health and safety culture is embedded within the team
  • Define and maintain under review the overall aims and objectives of the project, together with their relative priorities, and the overall scope of the project
  • Define and get agreement of a budget (Business Case approval), delivering the project within this budget and managing and reporting progress against an agreed cost plan
  • Manage the activities of the external consultants, including the management of their appointments, via appointed procurement team
  • Manage project documentation, including change control

Essential experience of the Project Manager:

  • Working knowledge of RIBA Stages
  • Working knowledge of Building Regulations
  • Working knowledge of the Construction, Design Management (CDM) Regulations
  • Working knowledge of NEC 3 contracts
  • 3 years plus experience of building teams to deliver construction projects

Desirable qualifications for the Project Manager:

  • Essential – a professional construction qualification in the form of HND/HNC, degree, accreditation (APM) or chartered status

This role is 37 hours per week and can be based out of our Farnborough, Malvern or Portsmouth facilities with an average attendance of 3 days per week onsite.

At our Farnborough site exciting work takes place at our state-of-the-art facility, with high-energy laser technologies, our 5m pressurised wind tunnel which has a simulation capability that is unique in the UK and our large research and development projects is a real hub of creativity, research and innovation. Portsmouth Technology Park (PTP) is one of QinetiQ’s key facilities, focusing on advanced technology development and engineering services. It is dedicated to research and development, ensuring that complex systems are designed, integrated, and tested effectively to meet operational requirements. The facility utilises sophisticated modelling and simulation techniques to analyse and predict performance.

Malvern

The Malvern facility is noted for its work in electronic warfare, surveillance and complex system integration, contributing significantly to the UK’s defence capabilities. Developing technologies for military and civilian applications, including sensors, communications and cyber security.

Please note that all applicants for this role must be eligible for SC clearance, as a minimum.
