Estates Safety Officer
We are recruiting for an experienced Estates Safety Officer to join a busy housing association on an immediate, temporary basis covering long-term sick.
You'll join a busy, compliance-focused estates team as the Estate Safety Officer, supporting safe, well-managed buildings across Manchester - including high-rises, rented accommodation, and domestic adaptation schemes (tracks, hoists, specialist equipment).
This is a coordinating and contract-management role. You'll manage servicing, testing and inspection programmes across passenger lifts, disabled lift equipment, LOLER, Legionella & water hygiene, automatic gates/doors/barriers, and CCTV.
You'll work closely with contractors, compliance teams and inspectors - ensuring reports are received, reviewed, risk-assessed, tracked, and escalated. You'll monitor overdue properties, chase actions, support access arrangements, and keep performance data accurate and audit-ready.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
