Estates Senior Project Manager - Permanent Position(4155)

Your new role

Building services projects deliver across pharmaceutical manufacturing, laboratory, R&D, and warehouse facilities and commercial business sectors of the Eisai EMEA portfolio. Responsible for managing the design, installation, commissioning, qualification, and handover of systems while ensuring GMP/GLP compliance, budget control, and programme.

The Estates senior project manager reports to the Head of Building and Utilities Engineering. This role is central to the reliable and compliant operation of the site-wide Building and Utility Services and equipment serving all areas of the European Knowledge Centre (EKC) facility at Hatfield.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Deliver engineering projects and coordinate complex engineering works. Examples include Life cycle asset replacement, building fit-outs/churn, energy enhancement, multi-disciplinary maintenance activity, and sustainability carbon reduction projects.
  • Ensure commercial governance, compliance of all project work undertaken.
  • Develop projects from concept to handover including business case proposals to secure capital investment funding allocation that enhance organisational capability, leverage innovative technologies, and deliver data-driven operational improvements through a structured continuous improvement framework.
  • Update the asset management/rolling capital plan.
  • Embed a network of framework suppliers for project work.
  • Support the implementation of the EMEA Sustainability strategy, supporting short and long-term Net Zero ambitions, Science Based Target Initiatives (SBTIs), surrounding Scope 1 and 2 Carbon Management linked to ESOS reporting (Energy).
  • Responsible as primary contact for contractual implementation for scalable works acting as both PM and PQS depending on the scale of the project.
  • Responsible for the support of all Eisai EHS standards.
  • Administration of Contractual agreements (JCT etc.).
  • Engagement and appointment specialist subject matter experts (SME’s) including consulting engineers e.g. structural/MEP services.
  • Act as Eisai nominated ‘client’ under the CDM regulations and when applicable Eisai’s appointed Principal Designer.
  • Establish multi-level relationships across all business units and support functions, including business senior leadership teams across the region, and key corporate stakeholders, legal, and business effectiveness teams.
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders reflective of neighbourhood relationships and local authority planning applications.
  • Input into the EMEA Capital Budget planning process and collate quarterly forecast reporting across the region.
  • Provide reporting/data analytics to represent project execution progress.
  • Support Business risk/planning/change control/qualification reviews/contract liaison meetings as applicable.
  • Support the seamless completion, handover, and integration of all projects into operational management teams.
  • Supervise high-risk work activities (some unsocial hours) especially surrounding GMP/GLP critical environments.

What are we looking for?

  • Excellent verbal and written English skills.
  • Understanding of Electrical Installations.
  • Educated to ‘A’ level standard or equivalent.
  • Served a City & Guilds apprenticeship or equivalent with significant industry experience.
  • Robust understanding of Project Management principles.
  • Engineering qualifications in Building Services Engineering (Meng, Beng, BSc, HND/HNC) or equivalent.
  • Project Engineering/Management using a prescribed methodology, ideally PMI or APM.
  • Engineering experience in pharmaceutical or similar regulated environment.
  • Engineering safety systems and working practices.
  • Multi-Skilled in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
  • Water systems, treatment, and associated risks.
  • BMS systems.
  • Steam & Gas boilers, AHU’s, chillers, compressed air systems.
  • Previous experience working in a GxP or other regulated environment (although not essential, would be beneficial).
  • Record keeping and management of to meet statutory and mandatory requirements.
