Estates Senior Project Manager

Hertfordshire | Permanent | Salary up to £80,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estates Senior Project Manager to join a leading global organisation operating within a highly regulated pharmaceutical and R&D environment. Reporting directly to the Head of Building & Utilities Engineering, you will lead the delivery of complex engineering and building services projects across manufacturing, laboratory, warehouse, and commercial facilities. Working across a varied portfolio, you will oversee projects from concept through to handover, ensuring compliance, budget control, operational excellence, and sustainability objectives are achieved.

This is a highly visible role offering responsibility for capital projects, asset replacement programmes, building fit-outs, energy efficiency initiatives, and carbon reduction projects across a critical infrastructure environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering and estates projects from business case through to completion.
  • Manage building services and utility-related capital projects.
  • Deliver lifecycle asset replacement, fit-outs, sustainability, and energy improvement programmes.
  • Ensure GMP/GLP compliance, commercial governance, and regulatory adherence.
  • Manage contractors, consultants, and specialist engineering partners.
  • Act as client representative under CDM regulations and oversee contractual agreements including JCT contracts.
  • Support EMEA capital planning, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Drive Net Zero and sustainability initiatives across the estate.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, external partners, and local authorities.
  • Provide project reporting, risk management, and change control oversight.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Building Services, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong project management background, ideally PMI or APM accredited.
  • Experience delivering engineering projects within pharmaceuticals, life sciences, healthcare, or other regulated environments.
  • Strong knowledge of M&E systems, including:
    • Electrical installations
    • BMS systems
    • Steam and gas boilers
    • AHUs and chillers
    • Compressed air systems
    • Water treatment systems
  • Excellent understanding of engineering safety and compliance.
  • Strong commercial, stakeholder, and contractor management skills.
