Estates Surveyor - The Role
You will take responsibility for estate management of an allocated commercial and corporate property portfolio, maximising value for the Council. Your work will span landlord and tenant management, lease negotiations, property inspections, and compliance oversight across a diverse portfolio including corporate offices, leisure centres, investment property, country park estates, and community centres.

Estates Surveyor - Key Responsibilities
- Manage landlord and tenant professional relationships, including leasehold and rent review negotiations using market evidence
- Conduct property inspections, monitor lease and tenant obligations, and coordinate remedial works
- Progress leases, licences, wayleaves, and easements from Heads of Terms to completion
- Monitor portfolio debt and take enforcement action as instructed
- Ensure health and safety and EPC compliance across properties you manage
- Support the Council's annual asset valuation programme and respond to Finance and Audit queries
Estates Surveyor - You
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for essential site visits
- RICS membership, working towards it, or equivalent professional qualification
- Degree level qualification in a property discipline
- Several years' experience managing commercial and corporate property portfolios, ideally including public sector experience
- Extensive experience in rent reviews, lease renewals, and transaction negotiations
- Strong ability to build relationships with staff, members, tenants, and contractors
- Excellent IT skills including property and financial databases and Microsoft Office
