As an Estates Surveyor at Thames Water
As an Estates Surveyor at Thames Water, you’ll take ownership of a varied portfolio of estate management activities across our corporate real estate portfolio. Working closely with the Principal Surveyor and as part of a dynamic regional estates team, you’ll help drive our property strategy, influence key business decisions, and deliver property solutions that support essential utility operations and the wider Thames Water business. This is an exciting opportunity to make an immediate impact within a forward-thinking and purpose-driven organisation, playing a key role in supporting the management and optimisation of Thames Water’s property portfolio during a period of maternity cover.
12 month fixed term contract
What you will be doing as Estates Surveyor
- Responsibility for Estate Management activities, working with key partners within Thames Water to make strategic decisions regarding our corporate real estate and land holdings
- To support the principal surveyor in the development and documentation of Estate Management strategy with key objectives, opportunities, benefits, risks, and mitigating measures identified
- Create mutually beneficial and sustainable relationships with key business stakeholders in Operations, Asset Management and Conservation
- Build collaborative working relationships with external bodies, as Thames Water’s representative, i.e. Local Authorities & London Borough Councils, regulated bodies, development partners and neighbouring landowners
- Support the Principal Surveyor in creating a monthly report to the Director of Property on all Estate Management activities under your management
- Programme manage Estate Management activities on time, in budget and delivering demonstrable benefit to the Property Estates function

Location
Hybrid, Reading with occasional travel to sites within the Thames Valley
What you should bring to the role
- Hold a relevant degree such as Property//Corporate Real Estate qualification or MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), or equivalent.
- Excellent experience of Property and Estate Management with strong technical understanding of corporate real estate and property surveying
- First-class interpersonal skills with the ability to manage stakeholders effectively at all levels of the business.
- Experience of leading cross-business and multi-disciplinary teams
- Mixed property experience would be advantageous
