Job Summary
We’re looking for an exceptional Estates Surveyor to help us make a difference to our planet.
As our Estates Surveyor, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.
Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week, but we would also consider applicants wishing to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and we will also try our best to consider those intending to work a job share. Job Description
As part of our Property Management team, you will help develop and deliver the strategic management of the Met Office property portfolio.
You will ensure the estate meets all compliance and business needs by providing the right accommodation and estate solutions that support delivery of our goals.
Your Key Duties:
- Estates Strategy: Understand strategic business drivers and contribute to development of asset management plans and estates strategy
- Property Portfolio Management: Deliver the estate portfolio strategy, improve portfolio performance and ensure the estate is managed in line with compliance requirements, including Government Functional Standards
- Acquisitions and Disposals: Lead on identification, appraisal and acquisition of temporary and permanent sites, and support the disposals strategy
- Property Data Management: Maintain strong knowledge of property data management systems including Propman and InSite, and Government Property Data Standards and commissions such as State of the Estate
- Cost Management: Analyse and present estate portfolio cost information to support the Finance Business Partner
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and professional advisors
- Planning and Development: Advise on planning feasibility, planning policy, and Met Office safeguarding consultation reviews and responses

As our Estates Surveyor, your total reward package will be up to £60,268 annually, which includes:
- £43,081 base pay
- An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%
- Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave
