The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an Estimating Assistant to join the Pre-Construction and Work Winning team of an established civil engineering and construction business.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone with 1–5 years' experience who is looking to build a career in estimating, procurement, tendering or pre-construction.

Working closely with experienced Estimators, you will play an important role in supporting live tenders by coordinating enquiries, obtaining competitive quotations and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.

You'll gain valuable exposure to the commercial and work-winning side of civil engineering, with training and development provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review client tender documents, drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare, issue and manage tender enquiries for subcontract works and materials.
  • Contact suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
  • Compare and analyse quotations to support accurate tender pricing.
  • Assist with measuring and taking off quantities from technical drawings.
  • Maintain accurate records of supplier information, quotations and communications.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Work closely with Lead Estimators, Buyers and the wider Pre-Construction team.
  • Support the identification of competitive and innovative supply chain solutions.
  • Coordinate with the Buying team to support the transition from tender stage through to project delivery.
  • Manage enquiry deadlines across multiple live tenders.
  • Ensure tender information is accurate, organised and delivered within required deadlines.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
