Estimating Manager | Power & Renewables
Are you an experienced estimating leader ready to shape the future of major power and renewable energy projects?
Kirby Group Engineering is seeking a Group Estimating Manager to lead our Power & Renewables estimating function, driving commercial excellence across some of the most complex and high-profile projects in the industry. This is a strategic leadership role for someone who can combine technical expertise, commercial acumen, and people leadership to consistently deliver winning tender solutions.
Working closely with senior leadership, engineering teams, operations, and business unit stakeholders, you will play a pivotal role in developing robust estimating strategies, mentoring a high-performing team, and ensuring Kirby Group Engineering continues to deliver best-in-class solutions to its clients.

The Opportunity
This is far more than a traditional estimating role.
You will be responsible for leading the estimating function across the Power & Renewables sector, influencing key business decisions, supporting project growth, and ensuring the highest standards of technical and commercial excellence are maintained throughout the tendering process.
You'll be the person people turn to when the numbers matter, when the strategy matters, and when winning the right work matters.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading and managing the estimating function across Power & Renewables projects.
- Driving excellence throughout the tendering and bid management process.
- Managing tender adjudications and supporting key commercial decision-making.
- Coaching, mentoring, and developing a team of estimators, creating a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
- Working closely with Business Unit Managers, Associate Directors, Engineering, Operations, and Commercial teams to ensure high-quality tender submissions.
- Building and maintaining estimating systems, procedures, and best practices.
- Developing and maintaining cost databases, benchmarking data, and project performance statistics to support future bids.
- Managing project estimate registers and supporting win/loss analysis to improve future tender performance.
- Representing Kirby Group Engineering during client meetings and pre-construction engagements.
- Contributing to the development of innovative estimating processes that improve efficiency, accuracy, and competitiveness.
- Ensuring all estimating activities align with company standards, governance, and information security requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Significant estimating leadership experience within Power, Renewables, Utilities, Energy Infrastructure, or a related sector.
- Strong commercial and technical understanding of large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing estimating teams.
- Experience managing complex tenders from initial enquiry through to final adjudication.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the business.
- Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
- A proactive, detail-oriented approach with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Comfortable engaging directly with clients, consultants, and senior leadership teams.
