Estimator

Location: Manchester

Contract Duration: 9 months (June 2027)

Hours: 40 hours per week (8 hours per day)

Rate: £500 per day (Outside IR35)

I'm currently recruiting for an experienced Estimator to join a major Energy infrastructure project supporting the delivery of Electricity Transmission Substations and HVDC Interconnector Converter Stations.

The Role

The Estimator will support the Pre Construction Manager in preparing accurate and competitive estimates for civil engineering, structural, architectural, and building works. You'll collaborate closely with engineering, design, and tendering teams to develop cost-effective solutions that support successful project bids.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce take-offs and Bills of Quantities in accordance with CESMM4
  • Prepare elemental cost plans for budgets and business development opportunities
  • Develop estimates for civil engineering, building, and building services works
  • Identify and document opportunities, risks, assumptions, and exclusions throughout the tender process
  • Maintain estimate assumption registers and qualification documentation
  • Prepare estimating handover packs and support handover activities
  • Provide ongoing estimating support to the Pre Construction Manager

Essential Experience & Skills

  • 10+ years' experience within the construction industry
  • 5+ years' experience in an Estimating role
  • Strong expertise in CESMM4 and the production of Bills of Quantities
  • Experience working within bid teams and commercial environments
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering and construction methodologies
  • BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Technology, or similar
  • OR HNC/HND in a related Building, Civil Engineering, or Construction discipline

Desirable Experience

  • Power sector experience, including substations, transmission, or power generation projects
  • Water sector infrastructure experience, Building Services knowledge.
  • Professional membership: CEng/IEng (ICE), MCIOB/ICIOB (CIOB), MRICS/Assoc RICS
