At Hill, great projects begin with great planning. As our Estimator, you’ll play a vital role in helping us secure future work by producing competitive tenders, cost plans and budget estimates that reflect our commitment to quality, value and detail.

You’ll lead on your own bids, working closely with Pre-Construction, Technical, Commercial and Delivery teams—supporting everything from pricing and site visits to client negotiations and handovers.

What you’ll do:

  • Prepare tenders, cost plans and estimates for residential developments of varying size and complexity
  • Use Causeway to build accurate and well-structured bids
  • Review drawings, specifications and technical documents to inform pricing strategies
  • Lead subcontractor pricing—issuing enquiries, chasing responses and resolving discrepancies
  • Chair pricing meetings and contribute to bid strategies and settlement reviews
  • Collaborate with internal teams to input fees, preliminaries and statutory costs
  • Visit sites and document findings to support programme and pricing development
  • Prepare handover packs and support the transition from pre-construction to delivery
  • Record all enquiries and submissions using Hill’s templates and control documents
  • Identify and communicate risks, opportunities, and cost options to the wider team
  • Maintain document accuracy and process compliance in line with ISO9001 and Health & Safety

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
