Estimator - Water & Wastewater Infrastructure

Location: Remote - South of England
Salary: £50,000-£70,000 + company car or allowance + benefits

I'm working with an established infrastructure contractor and supporting them with their search for an Estimator to join their growing water team working across the South of England. The Estimator will play a key role in pricing capital projects across the region to ensure reliable, safe water supplies are maintained to homes and businesses whilst protecting the environment. Note that previous experience working as an estimator within the UK's water sector is essential for this position.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong estimating background, particularly in first principles estimating, who wants to take ownership of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions across essential water infrastructure projects.

The role is predominantly remote, with travel to the company's office required around 5-6 times per year.

The Role

The Estimator will be responsible for pricing and securing work across water and wastewater capital programmes, working closely with operational, commercial and supply chain teams to produce accurate, competitive and commercially robust tenders.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
