Estimator

Location: Oldham
Job Type: Full-time
Annual Salary: £55K - £65K (depending on experience)

We are seeking an Estimator to manage and maintain full control of the pre-construction process from the issuance of tender documents until the tender has been awarded. This role involves a detailed understanding of each stage of the tender process and requires proactive engagement with various team members and stakeholders.

Day-to-day of the Role:

Tender Stage:

  • Review all tender documentation and arrange launch meetings to present initial tender thoughts.
  • Provide a summary of tender return requirements and engage with the design team and client as required.
  • Produce all bills of quantities using Conquest software and engage with the supply chain to send out compliant enquiries.
  • Undertake site visits to assess constraints and logistics, and prepare for and attend mid-tender meetings to present the status of the tender.
  • Collaborate with the Contracts Manager on project programming, technical design solutions, and logistics plans.
  • Work with the Procurement Manager on material products and contribute to the health and safety elements with the HS&E Director.
  • Produce a detailed and compliant tender for review and ensure all necessary forms are completed for submission.

Estimator's Handover Stage:

  • Prepare and present the estimate to the Build Team, providing all necessary supporting documentation and responding to any queries.

Pre-Construction/Design/Mobilisation Period:

  • Provide timely responses to any questions raised by the build team or external parties.

Construction Stage:

  • Continue to support the build team with timely responses throughout the construction phase.

Handover and Defects Period Stage:

  • Ensure ongoing support and responses during the handover and defects period.

Other Elements:

  • Support business development activities, promote the organisation to existing clients and consultants, and manage engagements with the Conquest team.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator in construction or related field.
  • Strong understanding of tender processes and pre-construction management.
  • Proficiency in Conquest software or similar for producing bills of quantities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of £55K - £65K depending on experience.
  • Working hours: 39 hrs per week – 8am – 4.30pm Mon to Thurs, with an early finish on Friday at 3.30pm.
  • 21 days holiday plus bank holidays.
  • Company pension scheme.
