Experienced Estimator
A well-established contractor operating across building and civil engineering sectors is looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to strengthen its pre-construction function.
This role suits someone who enjoys getting under the skin of a project - understanding how it will actually be built, not just how it measures - and who can produce robust, commercially intelligent tenders from first principles.

Role Duties
- Interpreting tender documentation, drawings and specifications to build accurate cost plans and detailed estimates.
- Producing first-principles build-ups covering labour, plant, materials, subcontractors, and prelims.
- Carrying out measurement and rate development where formal BoQs are not provided.
- Engaging with the supply chain to obtain competitive quotations and interrogating submissions for scope alignment.
- Applying practical construction knowledge to assess buildability, sequencing, temporary works, logistics, and programme impacts.
- Identifying design gaps, risks, opportunities, and value-engineering options.
- Reviewing contractual information and highlighting commercial considerations, assumptions, and clarifications.
- Supporting tender adjudications, negotiations, and handovers into delivery teams.

Experience
- Estimating experience within construction and/or civils.
- Strong first-principles capability and a practical understanding of how projects are built.
- Confidence interpreting drawings, technical information, and contract documentation.
- Awareness of NEC/JCT/SBCC or similar contract forms.
- Strong analytical ability, commercial awareness, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.
