Estimator - Construction & Property Services
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)
Additional: Car allowance or company vehicle

Linsco are delighted to be working alongside a well-established, family-owned construction business who are looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join their growing Property Services division based in Derby.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected contractor with a long-standing reputation for delivering refurbishment, maintenance and property improvement projects across the Midlands.
Working closely with the Project Management, Commercial and Design teams, you will take a lead role in the estimating and tendering process, from initial enquiry and cost planning through to tender settlement and submission. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying commercial opportunities, managing supply chain enquiries and ensuring competitive, accurate and timely bids are delivered.
Key Responsibilities
- Take the commercial lead on competitive and negotiated tenders, producing accurate and commercially competitive submissions.
- Prepare detailed internal cost plans and external tender submissions for projects up to approximately £10m.
- Manage tender documentation, ensuring all submissions are accurate, complete and delivered within required timescales.
- Produce and manage subcontractor and supplier enquiry schedules, obtaining and assessing competitive quotations.
- Instigate and manage the production of Bills of Quantities and detailed project measures.
- Undertake trade package analysis, reviewing quotations and making recommendations to ensure best commercial value.
- Identify, assess and present commercial risks and opportunities throughout the tender process.
- Work closely with Design Managers to identify gaps in design information and ensure these are appropriately priced.
- Identify and evaluate Value Engineering opportunities to improve project value and competitiveness.
- Prepare tender clarifications, Forms of Tender and other relevant submission documentation.
- Present cost summaries and tender information at tender settlement meetings.
- Ensure tenders are completed accurately, competitively and within agreed deadlines.

Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience working as an Estimator within the construction industry.
- Experience pricing projects up to approximately £10m, ideally within refurbishment, maintenance, property services or general construction.
- Relevant Honours Degree or equivalent construction/commercial qualification.
- Strong understanding of the full tendering and estimating process, from initial enquiry through to final submission.
- Experience producing cost plans, Bills of Quantities, package enquiries and subcontractor comparisons.
- Commercially aware, with the ability to identify risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions.
- Strong understanding of subcontractor and supply-chain procurement.
- Methodical and detail-focused, with the ability to work effectively under tight tender deadlines.
- Confident working both autonomously and as part of a wider commercial and project team.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Experience with estimating and measurement software would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
