Estimator Civil Engineering

About the Company:

Our client is a well-established specialist civil engineering and construction contractor with an outstanding reputation for delivering complex infrastructure and structural projects across the UK. Working across a diverse portfolio of civil engineering schemes, they pride themselves on technical excellence, collaborative working, and delivering high-quality projects safely and efficiently. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join their pre-construction team.

The Role:

As an Estimator, you will play a key role in the pre-construction phase of civil engineering projects, producing accurate and competitive cost estimates that support successful tender submissions. Working closely with commercial and operational teams, you will assess tender documentation, identify project risks and opportunities, and contribute to winning new business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for civil engineering projects.
  • Review and analyse tender documentation and specifications.
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities within project scopes.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
  • Prepare bills of quantities and pricing documentation.
  • Work closely with commercial and delivery teams to ensure a smooth handover of successful projects.
  • Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings as required.

About You:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience working as an Estimator within the civil engineering or infrastructure sector.
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure, drainage, earthworks, and highways projects.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • A proactive, organised, and self-motivated approach.
