Estimator – Building Services / M&E / BMS | Leeds Office | Full Time | £40,000–£50,000 per annum
Our client is a Leeds-based specialist in control panel design, manufacturing, and building management systems, with over 25 years of industry experience. They provide a complete end-to-end service, including system design, in-house panel manufacturing, engineering, installation, and ongoing maintenance across commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, and public sector projects.
With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality bespoke control solutions, they work with a wide range of clients on technically interesting projects, from new-build developments through to complex refurbishment and upgrade works.
Their projects typically include a 75/25 split of new works to rework, covering sectors such as schools, student accommodation, office developments, manufacturing facilities, and commercial buildings, with project values ranging from £10k to £500k.
The Role
Due to continued growth, our client is looking for a technically capable Estimator with experience within M&E, MEP, building services, controls, or a related engineering environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands technical systems, enjoys analysing drawings and specifications, and has the ability to produce accurate quotations and tender submissions. The successful candidate will play an important role within the estimating function, working closely with the Business Development Director and engineering teams to support project delivery and business growth.
The business is open to candidates from a range of technical backgrounds. While BMS experience would be advantageous, it is not essential. The key requirement is strong engineering knowledge, an understanding of technical drawings, and the ability to recognise and assess components, equipment, and systems within a building services environment.
This could suit an experienced Estimator looking to develop further within a specialist engineering business, or a technically strong engineer with some commercial exposure who is ready to move into estimating.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Understanding of components and equipment used within building services, controls, or engineering environments
