Estimator - Leeds Regional Office
We're looking for an Estimator to join our Leeds regional office. You'll compile estimates and budgets for the products and services we supply, from first look at tender documents through to handover to the construction team.
Purpose of the Role
To compile estimates on how much it will cost to provide a client or potential client with the supply of products and services offered by the Company. To calculate how much a project is likely to cost and create budgets accordingly.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Examine and analyse tender documentation in order to prepare time, cost, materials and labour estimates
- Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops
- Consult with clients, suppliers, personnel in internal departments and site personnel to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
- Confer with relevant personnel on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
- Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organising and scheduling work
- Produce analytically priced Bills of Quantities
- Prepare Preliminaries
- Prepare estimates for use in selecting suppliers or subcontractors
- Review material and labour requirements to decide whether it is more cost effective to produce or purchase components
- Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals throughout the duration of the project
- Populate the internal CRM system with relevant project information
- Follow up tender submissions and liaise with the Pre-Construction team on outcomes and associated actions
- Conduct relevant reviews to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction
- Establish and maintain the tendering process and conduct negotiations
- Ensure effective handover of tenders to the construction team
- Maintain knowledge of current market trends, practices and products
- Ensure all sensitive and confidential information is held and communicated in accordance with the Data Protection Act
- Complete all administration tasks in a timely, accurate and legible manner
- Work without supervision
- Demonstrate a commitment to own personal development within the role

General
- Ensure knowledge and awareness of your roles and responsibilities under the Company's integrated management systems in relation to Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental.
- Ensure knowledge and understanding of the Company's policies and procedures in relation to data protection legislation.

Qualifications and Experience - Required
- Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Commercial Management
- GCSE English (or equivalent)
- GCSE Maths (or equivalent)
- Experience of estimating in construction management, or the ability to quickly learn and understand the role of Estimator
- Experience of managing budgets and plans
- The ability to read and understand technical drawings and architect's plans, and interpret their content and technical specification
Qualifications and Experience - Advantageous
- Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Project and Word) and the use of Conquest Estimating Software
