About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Estimator to join a growing passive fire protection contractor based in Kent.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the passive fire protection industry, with previous estimating experience within fire stopping, fire doors, compartmentation or associated construction disciplines.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator looking to join an established and expanding business, with the opportunity to play a key role in securing and delivering new projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and competitive estimates and quotations for passive fire protection projects.
  • Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications and scope of works.
  • Undertake detailed take-offs and quantify labour, materials and associated costs.
  • Interpret fire strategy drawings, construction drawings and specifications.
  • Liaise with clients, main contractors, suppliers and subcontractors to obtain relevant pricing and project information.
  • Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions and potential variations.
  • Source competitive material and subcontractor quotations.
  • Ensure estimates are commercially viable while remaining competitive within the market.
  • Prepare and submit detailed tender returns within agreed deadlines.
  • Attend site visits and tender meetings where required.
  • Work closely with the Commercial, Pre-Construction and Operations teams to ensure a smooth handover of successful projects.
  • Maintain accurate estimating records and contribute to improving estimating processes and procedures.
  • Keep up to date with relevant passive fire protection products, systems, regulations and industry standards.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working as an Estimator within passive fire protection.
  • Strong knowledge of fire stopping, compartmentation and/or fire doors.
  • Experience pricing projects for main contractors, Tier 1 contractors, housing associations or public-sector clients.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and estimating/tendering software.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a wider commercial team.
