Experienced Estimator Opportunity in Manchester

An established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is looking for an experienced Estimator to join their team in Manchester.

This is a great opportunity to join a successful, experienced tendering team, working alongside estimators, bid writers, procurement, and business development professionals to develop customer solutions and secure work across a diverse portfolio of civil engineering projects.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret client tender requirements from PQQ and ITT documentation
  • Take off and review Bills of Quantities from client information
  • Prepare estimates in accordance with company procedures promptly and accurately
  • Collate supporting information including opportunity and risk registers and key assumptions registers
  • Work collaboratively with the Bid Manager, regional business, and planner to agree methodology and principles
  • Prepare the estimating adjudication pack and present the basis of estimates and key assumptions
  • Maintain notes of adjudication and handover meetings, closing out actions and monitoring customer negotiations
  • Prepare estimate handover packs at contract award and provide ongoing support to site teams

  • Estimating and/or operational experience in one or more of the following: shafts, tunnelling, pipelines, MEICA, rail civils, or groundworks
  • Strong competence in construction techniques and associated resource requirements across these sectors
  • Proficient with tender build-ups and estimating software
  • Fully conversant with Microsoft Office suite
  • Numerate with a confident demeanour and ability to liaise at all levels
  • Experience working within the water or civil engineering sector

Desirable

  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent
  • Experience using Candy estimating software
