RCM Ltd is working in partnership with a well-established Main Contractor to recruit an experienced Estimator for a permanent position based in Leicestershire.
The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a financially secure contractor delivering refurbishment and construction projects across the healthcare, commercial and education sectors, with project values ranging from £50k to £6.5m.
The Role
Working within the Pre-Construction team, you will be responsible for preparing competitive tender submissions using a combination of subcontractor enquiries and first-principles estimating.

Key Responsibilities Include
- Reviewing tender documentation and identifying project requirements
- Producing subcontract enquiry packages
- Issuing enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers
- Reviewing and analysing returned quotations
- Preparing tender cost plans and pricing documents
- Identifying tender exclusions and qualifications
- Carrying out take-offs for general building works
- Pricing preliminaries in line with project programmes
- Assisting with tender programmes where required
- Attending site visits and surveys when necessary (occasional nationwide travel and overnight stays may be required)

About You
Applicants should have:
- 3-5 years' estimating experience with a Main Contractor
- Experience pricing refurbishment projects within healthcare, commercial or education sectors
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- The ability to work to tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Good Microsoft Office skills
- A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently as well as within a team
Desirable Experience Includes
- Knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
- SMM7 and/or NRM experience
- Construction-related qualifications or degree
