Estimator (Fit-Out / Small Works)

Location: Canary Wharf (Office & Site Based)
Sector: Construction | Commercial Fit-Out | Small Works

The Opportunity

Our client is a leading construction contractor delivering high-quality commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects across London. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join their expanding Fit-Out division.

This role will focus on pricing a wide variety of small works, refurbishment and commercial fit-out projects, working closely with clients from enquiry through to tender submission. The successful candidate could come from an Electrical, Mechanical or CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural) background, with experience preparing their own quotations and managing estimates within a fast-paced commercial environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business with a strong pipeline of repeat work and long-term client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial fit-out and small works projects.
  • Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation to determine project scope.
  • Produce detailed take-offs and cost breakdowns.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Liaise directly with clients to clarify project requirements and pricing assumptions.
  • Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings where required.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities to improve project competitiveness.
  • Work closely with Operations and Project Delivery teams during tender handovers.
  • Maintain estimating databases, pricing schedules and supplier relationships.
  • Ensure tenders are submitted accurately and within required deadlines.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience pricing commercial fit-out, refurbishment or small works projects.
  • Experience preparing your own quotations from enquiry through to submission.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods and commercial pricing.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with experience using estimating software being advantageous.
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred).

Desirable Experience

  • Commercial office fit-outs.
  • Cat A / Cat B fit-out projects.
  • Internal refurbishment works.
  • Building services or MEP packages.
  • Fast-track construction projects.
  • Working directly with end clients or main contractors.
