Our client is a growing roofing and cladding contractor operating across the North East, delivering industrial and commercial building envelope packages. Although a relatively new business, they are led by an experienced management team with a strong track record in the sector and have already secured a strong pipeline of work.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join their commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with roofing and cladding estimating experience who is looking to play a key role in a developing business with genuine long-term career prospects.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for industrial and commercial roofing and cladding projects. Working closely with the Directors, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors, you will manage the tender process from initial enquiry through to contract award, ensuring commercially sound and competitive submissions. This role would suit someone who is commercially minded, highly organised, and has a strong understanding of roofing and cladding systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Preparing detailed cost estimates for roofing and cladding projects
- Reviewing tender enquiries, drawings, specifications, and contract documentation
- Undertaking quantity take-offs and preparing accurate material schedules
- Obtaining and evaluating quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
- Preparing competitive tender submissions within required deadlines
- Identifying project risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving solutions
- Liaising with clients, architects, main contractors, and design teams to clarify tender information
- Supporting contract handovers to the delivery team following successful tenders
- Maintaining accurate estimating records and cost databases
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Assisting Directors with business development opportunities and negotiated projects

Candidate Requirements
- Proven estimating experience within the roofing and cladding industry
- Strong knowledge of industrial and commercial building envelope systems, including:
- Composite panels
- Built-up roofing and cladding systems
- Single ply roofing
- Rainscreen cladding
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Commercial awareness and understanding of project costs and margins
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software
- Full UK driving licence
