Your new company

You will be joining a specialist civil engineering and utility contractor based in Warwickshire operating within the power industry. This established and highly respected contractor delivers HV and LV grid connection projects for major electricity Distribution Network Operators, including UK Power Connections and National Grid Electricity Distribution, and has developed a reputation for delivering high-quality projects safely, efficiently and collaboratively. With a growing order book, strong client relationships and a commitment to investing in its people, this is an excellent opportunity to join a business where your contribution will directly influence future growth and success.

This is a full-time permanent position based out of their Warwickshire office.

Your new role

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive cost estimates and tender submissions for a range of HV/LV and civil engineering projects. Working closely with operational, commercial and procurement teams, you will analyse tender opportunities, assess project risks and develop commercially competitive bids that support the company's continued growth.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing tender documentation, specifications and drawings
  • Preparing detailed estimates, cost plans and pricing schedules
  • Undertaking quantity take-offs and cost analysis exercises
  • Obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations
  • Identifying project risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions
  • Preparing tender submissions and supporting documentation
  • Liaising with operational teams to develop winning bid strategies
  • Attending client meetings and pre-tender discussions where required
  • Maintaining accurate tender records and documentation
  • Supporting the handover of successful projects to delivery teams

What you'll need to succeed

In order to be successful, you will bring:

  • Previous experience as an Estimator with utilities, civil engineering or infrastructure sectors
  • Strong understanding of estimating principles, cost planning and tendering processes
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and contract documentation
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
  • Ability to engage with subcontractors and supply chain partners
  • Full UK driving licence.
