Role Description

The Estimator / Quantity Surveyor is a full-time, on-site role based in Brighton, responsible for supporting the commercial and pricing functions of flooring projects. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing drawings and specifications, preparing detailed cost estimates, and producing quotations for the supply and installation of floor coverings. The role involves measuring and quantifying materials, liaising with suppliers and subcontractors for pricing, and tracking project costs against budgets. The Estimator / Quantity Surveyor will assist with tender submissions, value engineering, and cost reporting, while working closely with project managers and the operations team to ensure accurate financial forecasting. The position also includes maintaining up-to-date records, contributing to contract negotiations, and supporting continuous improvement in estimating and cost control processes.

  • Experience in estimating or quantity surveying within construction or flooring, including measuring, take-offs, and cost breakdowns.
  • Strong numeracy, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in pricing and documentation.
  • Proficiency in relevant software such as MS Excel and industry estimating or measurement tools.
  • Solid understanding of construction processes, materials, and commercial terms, including tenders and contracts.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with clients, suppliers, and internal project teams.
  • Ability to organize workloads, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience in flooring, interiors, or fit-out projects is highly beneficial.
  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
