Estimator / Quantity Surveyor

Security Clearance

Current SC Clearance preferred, or willingness and eligibility to obtain SC Clearance.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join a leading consultancy delivering complex infrastructure, construction, and defence programmes across the UK. Working as part of a high-performing commercial team, you will support the successful delivery of MOD projects, providing robust cost planning, estimating, commercial management, and cost assurance services throughout the project lifecycle. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused professional looking to work on nationally significant defence and secure environment projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates and detailed cost plans at all project stages.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets and forecasting models.
  • Undertake cost benchmarking and market analysis.
  • Manage procurement and tendering activities.
  • Review and evaluate contractor submissions and change requests.
  • Provide contract administration support and commercial advice.
  • Monitor project expenditure and report against approved budgets.
  • Support risk and value management exercises.
  • Produce cost reports for senior stakeholders and clients.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, planners, engineers, and client teams.
  • Contribute to business development and client relationship management activities where required.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working as an Estimator, Quantity Surveyor, or Cost Consultant.
  • Strong understanding of construction cost management principles.
  • Experience preparing estimates, cost plans, and commercial reports.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cost management tools.
  • Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).

Desirable Requirements

  • Current SC Clearance.
  • Experience delivering MOD, Defence, Nuclear, Government, or secure infrastructure projects.
  • Consultancy experience.
  • Membership of RICS, CIOB, ACostE, or equivalent professional body.
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or related discipline.
