OJM Insulations focuses on high-quality workmanship and dependable service on-site. Team members work closely with contractors and project managers to deliver projects on time and to specification.
Role Description
The Estimator role at OJM Insulations Ltd is a full-time, on-site position based in Chelmsford. The estimator is responsible for reviewing drawings and specifications, quantifying materials and labor, and preparing accurate cost estimates for insulation projects.

- Gathering supplier prices
- Updating estimate templates
- Collaborating with project managers and site teams to clarify requirements and scope
- Preparing quotations and tender submissions
- Tracking changes and variations
- Supporting negotiations with clients and contractors
- Helping maintain estimation records
- Monitoring project costs versus estimates
- Supporting continuous improvement of pricing and forecasting methods
Qualifications
- Experience in estimating or quantity surveying in construction, mechanical services, or insulation projects
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in measurements and cost breakdowns
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and estimation or project management software
- Effective communication skills for working with suppliers, contractors, and internal project teams
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tenders, deadlines, and changing priorities
- Knowledge of insulation materials, installation methods, and relevant industry standards is an advantage
- Prior experience in a similar role and a relevant technical or construction-related qualification or apprenticeship are beneficial
