South East London | Permanent | Competitive Salary + Package

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Estimator to join a long-established and highly respected main contractor based in South East London.

This role is ideal for a mid-level Estimator looking to take the next step in their career within a stable and growing business, offering exposure to a broad range of technically challenging projects and genuine long-term progression.

They are recognised for delivering complex projects within live, occupied, and sensitive environments where planning, quality, and attention to detail are essential.

  • Refurbishment & fit-out schemes
  • Structural repair & remediation works

Typical Project Values:

  • Small works from £100k-£250k
  • Mid-size projects from £500k-£5m
  • Major schemes up to £15m+

Projects are secured through both competitive tendering and negotiated routes, providing a varied and commercially interesting workload.

Estimator Role Overview:

As an Estimator, you will play a key role within the pre-construction team, taking ownership of tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
  • Producing detailed take-offs and cost estimates
  • Preparing accurate tender submissions and pricing packages
  • Obtaining, reviewing, and negotiating subcontractor quotations
  • Identifying project risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
  • Attending site visits, tender meetings, and internal reviews
  • Supporting handover to commercial and delivery teams
  • Building strong relationships with supply chain partners and clients

Estimator Candidate Requirements:

We are keen to speak with candidates who have:

  • 3-7+ years estimating experience within construction
  • Experience pricing refurbishment, fit-out, maintenance, or specialist construction works
  • Strong commercial awareness and cost planning ability
  • Ability to manage tenders with limited supervision
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods and sequencing
  • Good proficiency with Excel and estimating / take-off software
  • Experience within a main contractor environment would be highly advantageous.
