FJ Booth Construction Ltd is a well-established and respected construction company, specialising in steelwork solutions across commercial, industrial, and bespoke projects. We pride ourselves on technical expertise, reliability, and long-term relationships with our clients and supply chain.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team and play a key role in securing and delivering high-value steelwork projects.

Role Overview

As a Estimator, you will be responsible for leading the estimating function for structural and architectural steelwork projects, producing accurate and competitive tenders, and supporting business development activities. You will work closely with senior management, project teams, clients, and supply chain partners to ensure commercially robust and compliant submissions.

  • Lead the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for steelwork projects
  • Review and analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
  • Produce comprehensive take-offs and material quantities
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive and reliable pricing
  • Identify commercial risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions
  • Prepare, review, and submit tender documentation within agreed deadlines
  • Lead the preparation and submission of client prequalification questionnaires (PQQs), including maintaining compliance with ISO standards and managing accreditations such as Achilles and Constructionline
  • Support post-tender negotiations and provide clear handovers to project delivery teams
  • Maintain and develop estimating databases, rates, and cost benchmarks

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Senior Steelwork Estimator or similar estimating role
  • Strong technical knowledge of steel fabrication and erection processes
  • Excellent ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • High level of commercial awareness and risk management capability
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines effectively

Desirable

  • Demonstrable experience working with main contractors and design teams
  • In-depth knowledge of UK construction standards and regulations
  • Hands-on experience managing ISO accreditation, Achilles, and Constructionline submissions
  • Background in steel fabrication, engineering, or construction management
