About the Role:
The Mentee Coach plays an important role in supporting the delivery of a high-quality Girls’ Emerging Talent Centre (ETC) programme, helping to create a safe, inclusive, and performance-focused environment that fosters the development of young players.
This developmental position is designed to support aspiring coaches through structured learning opportunities, mentoring, and practical coaching experience. Working alongside and under the guidance of Burnley FC in the Community ETC coaching staff, the Mentee Coach will assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of training sessions, while developing their own coaching knowledge, skills, and experience.
The role provides valuable exposure to both training and matchday environments, with coaching hours and game attendance determined by the Emerging Talent Centre to align with the developmental objectives of the position. The Mentee Coach is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding, professionalism, continuous learning, and the FA's coaching standards, always maintaining all required qualifications and best practice principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Session Delivery & Player Development
- Support ETC Centre Coaches in the planning, preparation, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality coaching sessions within the FA Emerging Talent Centre programme.
- Create a positive, engaging, and player-centred environment that inspires and empowers female players to maximise their potential and enjoyment of the game.
- Take a lead coaching role with an assigned BFC Women Junior age-group team, delivering effective training sessions and supporting players during matches and other football activities.
- Monitor and support individual player progression through the implementation and review of Individual Development Plans (IDPs), adapting coaching practices to meet players' developmental needs and objectives.
- Promote the technical, tactical, physical, psychological, and social development of players in line with the Emerging Talent Centre philosophy and programme objectives.
- Provide constructive feedback to players, supporting continuous improvement and encouraging a growth mindset.

Talent Identification & Pathway Development
- Assist in the identification and development of talented female footballers, supporting their progression through the Burnley FC Women and FA female football pathway.
- Contribute to talent identification processes by observing, assessing, and recommending players for appropriate opportunities within the player pathway.
- Support the Senior Female Football Development Coach in the planning and delivery of recruitment and engagement activities, including tournaments, school visits, assemblies, workshops, festivals, and open training sessions.
- Actively promote female football opportunities within the local community to increase participation and strengthen player recruitment.
- Support the maintenance of high standards across all female football programmes, ensuring consistency in coaching delivery, player experience, and organisational values.
- Champion the ethos, values, and objectives of Burnley FC in the Community and the Emerging Talent Centre programme at all times.
General
- To understand and implement the Charity’s Safeguarding policy, procedures, and best practice guidelines in your role. To use this understanding to ensure safe working practices, appropriate reporting of concerns and contribute positively to a safe environment.
- To be able to work flexible hours where the role of the job requires. You may be required to work the occasional match day which may fall on a weekend or evening.
- To work towards agreed objectives.

- Promote the Burnley FC in the Community brand and ethos in a professional, strong, and positive manner.
- Work alongside other team members to support in other areas of the organisation as and when required to promote best practice.

About You:
To be successful within this role, you will have:
- FA Introduction to Coaching Football (formerly FA Level 1) or working towards the next appropriate coaching qualification.
- FA Safeguarding Children qualification (or willingness to obtain before commencing the role).
- FA Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAiF) qualification (or willingness to obtain before commencing the role).
