Europe & Asia Transportation Planning & Execution Manager
The Europe & Asia Transportation Planning & Execution Manager is responsible for translating global transportation strategy into executable regional transportation plans across Europe and Asia. This role develops routing plans, execution models, localized processes, and supplier-management routines that enable consistent, scalable transportation performance across sites, suppliers, carriers, and lanes.
A key priority for this role is to plan the week and monitor the day to deliver CTL and CTB weekly objectives. The successful candidate will leverage AI, analytics, digital tools, and process automation to improve transportation quality, strengthen execution discipline, accelerate continuous improvement, and deliver measurable cost and productivity benefits. These additions align with the draft’s stated focus on performance management, continuous improvement, and turning strategy into repeatable execution capability.
This is not primarily a shipment-tracking or expediting role. It operates one level above individual shipment execution and is accountable for building the routing, processes, supplier routines, and operating mechanisms that enable reliable transportation performance at scale.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain transportation routing plans for Europe and Asia aligned with global transportation strategy, including mode selection, carrier assignments, gateway strategy, consolidation approach, cutoff requirements, transit-time expectations, contingency routing, and escalation requirements.
- Translate transportation strategy into executable lane, site, supplier, system, and process-level plans that can be consistently deployed across the region.
- Establish implementation plans for major transportation changes, including supplier readiness, site readiness, carrier onboarding, routing instructions, systems requirements, data requirements, communications, escalation paths, and performance monitoring.
- Translate global transportation standard work into practical regional processes while allowing appropriate localization for infrastructure, supplier capability, operating hours, regulatory requirements, and market conditions.
- Standardize successful processes across sites and suppliers and reduce unnecessary regional variation caused by legacy local practices.
- Serve as a primary regional interface with transportation suppliers across Europe and Asia, including freight forwarders, airlines, trucking providers, parcel/express carriers, and 4PL partners.
- Ensure suppliers understand and execute routing, service, data, escalation, and performance requirements; conduct operating reviews and drive corrective action when performance does not meet expectations.
- Lead implementation of transportation plans across GE Aerospace sites and suppliers throughout Europe and Asia, ensuring clarity on provider selection, shipment timing, routing, documentation, cutoffs, escalation procedures, data requirements, and compliance expectations.
- Support supplier launches, sourcing transitions, manufacturing transfers, new facilities, MRO expansions, distribution-network changes, and other major supply-chain initiatives.
- Lead the regional operating rhythm by planning the week and monitoring the day to deliver CTL and CTB weekly objectives, using daily visibility and exception management to identify gaps early and drive countermeasures.
- Monitor performance across transit time, routing compliance, carrier performance, lane reliability, premium freight, shipment exceptions, lead-time performance, supplier execution, data quality, capacity constraints, and recurring failure modes.
- Use AI, analytics, digital tools, and automation to improve decision making, transportation visibility, process discipline, data quality, continuous improvement, and cost performance.
- Identify and scale technology-enabled opportunities to reduce waste, improve quality, lower premium freight, and deliver measurable cost and productivity benefits.
- Drive structured problem solving and continuous improvement with sites, suppliers, carriers, and transportation partners.
- Partner closely with regional distribution capabilities, including Netherlands and Singapore spare-parts operations, to ensure integration into the global transportation network.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
