AMETEK Hughes-Treitler/FMH is a leading provider of high-performance thermal management products for the aerospace and defense industry. Hughes-Treitler provides high-performance plate-fin heat exchangers for MIL/COM Aircraft, Aircraft Engines, Rotary applications, Drones and Space. FMH provides fluid convenance products (Ducts, Flex Hoses/Bellows, Tubing) for similar applications.
AHT-FMH is seeking a dynamic and technically proficient European Business Development Technical Director
This role involves being the technical lead in Europe for the AHT-FMH business, direct customer engagement, technical sales support and proposal development, working closely with the European Regional Sales Managers and US-based business unit personnel.
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
- Identify and develop new aerospace and defense business opportunities in Europe, and internationally as needed, in tandem with the Regional Sales team.
- Prepare and deliver compelling technical and commercial proposals and presentations tailored to customer requirements.
- Provide technical sales support for heat exchangers, fluid conveyance and integrated thermal management solutions.
- Ensure customer needs are translated into viable solutions to secure European growth opportunities.
- Ensure customer requirements are aligned with AHT-FMH product roadmap and capabilities to secure long-term growth.
- Represent AHT-FMH at industry trade shows, exhibitions, and customer meetings.
- Ensure alignment with company goals for revenue growth, customer satisfaction, and strategic positioning.
- Provide results for monthly and quarterly business development deliverables for price, orders, letter of proposal wins, market segmentation analyses.
- Generate annual budget and strategic plans for the region.
- Act as primary technical subject matter expert for HT/FMH products and technologies in support of sales visits with Regional Sales Managers and/or business unit Business Development personnel.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships with customer engineering, program, procurement and executive level stakeholders.
- Work closely with internal teams; sales, operations and finance to ensure seamless execution of customer programs.
- Support contract negotiations and manage scope changes in collaboration with commercial and legal teams.
- Negotiate and manage technical program scope during the bid and delivery phase.

Key Skills & Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in product management and/or technical sales or technical leadership.
- Strong understanding of thermal management.
- Proven track record of sales success in complex, engineered products.
- Experience working with, designing, and/or selling thermal management products.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and commercial audiences.
- Experience working with military procurement processes and compliance requirements.
- Extensive travel is expected across Europe and occasionally internationally.
- Business Development experience and/or business-related education.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
