Octavius Finance has recently been instructed by a leading investment manager with a strong reputation across European fixed income, seeking to appoint an experienced Investment Grade Credit Analyst to join its London-based investment team.

The role will focus on European corporate bonds, with responsibility for conducting detailed fundamental credit analysis and identifying attractive investment opportunities across the Investment Grade universe. The successful candidate will work closely with portfolio managers, contributing directly to investment decisions, portfolio construction and the generation of relative-value ideas.

The Role

  • Conduct bottom-up fundamental credit research across European Investment Grade corporates
  • Assess business models, financial statements, balance sheets and credit fundamentals to form clear investment views
  • Identify relative-value opportunities and actionable trade ideas across sectors and issuers
  • Present credit recommendations, investment theses and sector views to portfolio managers
  • Contribute to portfolio construction and ongoing monitoring of existing positions
  • Develop a strong understanding of European corporate bond markets and the factors driving credit performance
  • Work collaboratively within an established investment team, with the opportunity to have a direct impact on portfolio outcomes

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have ~2-6 years fundamental credit research experience, with a strong track record covering European Investment Grade issuers.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Strong experience analysing Investment Grade corporate credit
  • Exposure to European issuers, ideally across multiple sectors and geographies
  • A rigorous, bottom-up approach to fundamental credit analysis
  • The ability to translate research into clear investment views and trade ideas
  • Experience working closely with PMs and contributing to investment decisions
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to articulate and defend credit theses
  • A genuine interest in active investing and generating alpha rather than purely producing research
