OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Responsible for identifying, developing, and executing LNG trading and origination opportunities across the European market, supporting Petredec’s LNG growth strategy and expansion within the LNG value chain.

The role focuses on market development, relationship management, transaction structuring, and LNG portfolio optimization, including identifying commercial opportunities, supporting contract execution, and optimizing physical LNG positions to create value.

Key Tasks And Responsibilities

LNG Origination

  • Identify and develop LNG supply, demand, and trading opportunities across European and global markets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with LNG producers, utilities, industrial customers, portfolio players, infrastructure providers, and other market participants.
  • Support the origination and structuring of LNG transactions, including spot, medium-term, and long-term opportunities.
  • Support negotiations of LNG Sale and Purchase Agreements (SPAs), Master Sale Agreements (MSAs), term contracts, and related commercial agreements.
  • Develop new customer relationships and market channels to support business growth.
  • Evaluate LNG projects, market opportunities, and commercial structures to identify value creation opportunities.
  • Work closely with Trading, Chartering, Operations, Risk, and Finance teams to support effective transaction execution.

LNG Trading & Portfolio Optimization

  • Manage and optimize LNG positions arising from physical supply and sales agreements.
  • Execute spot trades, portfolio transactions, and short-term optimization opportunities.
  • Analyse LNG market fundamentals, regional pricing dynamics, freight, and supply-demand trends to identify trading opportunities.
  • Evaluate pricing structures, arbitrage opportunities, market spreads, and netbacks to support commercial decisions.
  • Optimize cargo destinations, delivery schedules, and contractual flexibility in response to market conditions.
  • Monitor European gas and LNG markets, including TTF pricing, LNG flows, storage levels, infrastructure developments, and regulatory changes.
  • Provide market insights and trading recommendations to support LNG portfolio performance.

Requirements Of The Job

Qualifications, Experiences, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Maritime Studies, or a related discipline. MBA or equivalent qualification is advantageous.
  • 7 to 10 years’ experience in LNG trading, origination, commercial development, or related energy roles within an energy company, utility, trading house, or LNG organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in LNG deal origination, commercial negotiations, and transaction execution.
  • Strong understanding of the LNG value chain, including supply, liquefaction, shipping, regasification, and downstream markets.
  • Established network of LNG market participants, including producers, utilities, industrial customers, and trading counterparties.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience assessing LNG pricing, market fundamentals, arbitrage opportunities, and commercial economics.
  • Experience supporting or negotiating LNG contracts, including SPAs, MSAs, and term supply agreements.
  • Ability to assess commercial risks, make sound decisions, and operate effectively in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify and develop new commercial opportunities.
