A leading international energy trading business is seeking an experienced European Power Scheduler to join its London team.

Working closely with traders and operational teams, the successful candidate will play an important role in managing the physical scheduling of European power and gas positions. The role covers the full nomination process, position reconciliation, interaction with TSOs and market operators, and supporting the business through market changes and new market implementation.

This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced trading environment, where accuracy, strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively to strict market deadlines are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily balancing and nomination processes across a range of European power markets, ensuring activity is completed accurately and within market deadlines.
  • Work closely with trading teams to reconcile positions and ensure physical nominations accurately reflect traded volumes ahead of gate closure.
  • Liaise directly with TSOs, counterparties and market operators to investigate and resolve rejected, unmatched or amended nominations.
  • Support the implementation and configuration of new European power markets, products and scheduling processes.
  • Manage nominations relating to interconnector transmission rights, including monitoring capacity auction results, transfers and the impact of curtailments.
  • Support the reconciliation of trading activity and assist with queries relating to imbalance, settlement and other operational matters.
  • Produce ad hoc analysis and operational reporting, identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and efficiency.
  • Contribute to change initiatives arising from regulatory or market developments and support the onboarding of new markets where required.
  • Provide operational scheduling support across European gas positions, including nominations, confirmations and the investigation and resolution of exceptions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
