European Power Market Analyst
About Permutable
Permutable is a UK-based artificial intelligence and market intelligence company building data and quantitative products for global financial markets. We transform large volumes of multilingual news, economic, market and alternative data into structured intelligence and signals for institutional investors, trading desks and other market participants.
Our work sits at the intersection of energy markets, quantitative research and AI. We develop proprietary datasets and systematic signals across commodities and global macro, turning complex real-world information into measurable and actionable market intelligence.
We are expanding our European power market capabilities and are looking for someone with practical market knowledge to help shape our datasets, research and forecasting products.
About the Role
Permutable is looking for a European Power Market Analyst with approximately 1–3 years of relevant experience, ideally including at least 12–24 months working directly with power-market data at a utility, consultancy, data provider or trading business.
You should understand at least one major European power market and be comfortable using Python to investigate prices and the fundamentals behind them. We are particularly interested in someone who can explain why prices moved, identify which factors mattered, and use data to support their conclusions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
