European Defence and Protection Sales Development Director
We have an opportunity for a European Defence and Protection Sales Development Director at Cooneen Protection and Defence, based in France at main client location. The successful person will secure new sales within existing customer base, and within new markets across Europe.
Responsibilities
Key Tasks/Main Activities:
- Identify, evaluate and recommend business opportunities in current customer accounts and new markets.
- Determine how Market opportunities will be developed and set out a strategy to achieve.
- Work closely with supporting departments to robustly qualify any opportunities to tender successfully.
- Establish and maintain excellent Customer communication and relationships.
- Agree annual sales and margin targets.
- Remain within your O/H budget.
- Identify any Marketing requirements to support successful sales plans.
- Maximise efficiency by supporting and implementing ‘Lean’ principles in your department.
- Promote and develop the development of the Cooneen ‘Values’ in your department and across the group.
- Observe all Company Rules, Standard Operating Procedures and Company Policies particularly in relation to Health and Safety, Harassment, Disciplinary and ICT Security.

This is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities. The successful job holder will be expected to perform varying tasks as required by their line manager & the overall objectives of the organisation.
Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Significant experience at a senior contract and sales level.
- Proven track record in building and developing a team to consistently achieve sales and profit targets in a multi-million-pound business.
- International sales development exposure.
- Proven track record in the development and delivery of a strategic sales plan to achieve sales growth.
- Technical capability related to the Defence, Aerospace or Personal Protective Equipment markets.
- Experience in the building excellent customer relationships.
- Third level qualification, for example degree/technical qualification OR significant experience gained in a similar role.
- Competent in the use of MS Office to include word, excel and PowerPoint.

Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience in clothing industry, defence or protection markets.
- Proven track record in public procurement tenders.
- Fluent in languages other than English.
- Educated A 'level or equivalent.
