Job Summary

Pay: £35,000+ per year

The Role

We are looking for an experienced High Voltage (HV) Vehicle Repair Battery Engineer to join our growing electric vehicle (EV) technical team.

In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, testing and maintaining high-voltage lithium-ion battery systems, typically operating at 400V–1000V+ DC. You will work across a range of electric and hybrid vehicles, identifying faults and carrying out safe, high-quality repairs in accordance with manufacturer procedures and industry safety standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong electrical and diagnostic experience who wants to develop their career within the rapidly evolving EV sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose faults within high-voltage EV and hybrid vehicle battery systems.
  • Safely isolate, de-energise and make HV systems safe before commencing repair work.
  • Inspect, test and repair lithium-ion battery packs and associated components.
  • Diagnose issues with battery management systems (BMS), contactors, busbars, cooling systems, wiring and high-voltage connections.
  • Carry out electrical measurements and diagnostic testing using appropriate specialist equipment.
  • Identify faulty battery modules, cells and components and replace or repair them where approved procedures allow.
  • Perform battery pack removal, installation, inspection and reassembly.
  • Investigate insulation resistance, isolation and high-voltage fault conditions.
  • Use manufacturer diagnostic systems and technical information to identify and resolve faults.
  • Complete post-repair testing and verification to ensure vehicles are safe and operating correctly.
  • Maintain accurate repair records, diagnostic reports and technical documentation.
  • Follow all HV, electrical, workshop and occupational health and safety procedures.
  • Keep up to date with evolving EV technology, battery systems, tools and repair techniques.
  • Support the wider workshop and technical team with complex electrical and diagnostic issues.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
