Hours: Full-Time (35 hours per week)
Contract(s): 1x Permanent role
Salary: £30,500 - £35,500 per annum, plus Into Film Benefits
Location: Edinburgh, Belfast, Cardiff, Salford, or London. We operate in a hybrid pattern, combining home working with attendance at the office.

Into Film is the UK’s leading charity for film in education and the community. We provide screen industry careers information and advice, support young filmmakers, and bring the power of moving image storytelling into classroom teaching.
We also run the annual Into Film Festival which enables more than 400,000 pupils to visit the cinema for free, and the Into Film Awards - the UK’s leading showcase for young filmmaking talent.
The core Into Film programme is free for UK state schools, colleges, and other youth settings, thanks to support from the BFI, awarding National Lottery good cause funding, and through other key funders including Cinema First and Northern Ireland Screen.

Role Summary
This new role is responsible for supporting and developing our research, reporting, and evaluation function. Our ambition is to provide accurate reporting to our funders, supporters, and education and sector partners and high-quality insights and data about the important role that film and screen culture plays in the educational and personal development and future career aspirations of young people aged 5-19. You will be key to developing and improving our reporting, research, and evaluation work at Into Film.
In addition, you will support the Head of Impact and Research as well as the Leadership team to ensure the effective reporting and evaluation of the impact of our programmes for our funders and other internal and external stakeholders.
Working collaboratively and closely with colleagues across the organisation, this function supports and informs our programme design and development, our income generation, and our policy and comms outputs.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Impact and Research to grow and develop Into Film's research and evaluation function
- Support and feed into improvements to and implementation of our organisational theory of change, evaluation framework, and impact strategy
- Under the guidance of the Head of Impact and Research, take the lead on setting and delivering high-quality research and evaluation design, analysis, and reporting across the organisation
- Lead improvements to and implementation of programme-level evaluation frameworks, ensuring input from our programme delivery teams and other key internal stakeholders (e.g. fundraising, marcomms, senior leadership)
- Provide expert qualitative or mixed-methods research and evaluation support for colleagues, including but not limited to:
- Providing advice and guidance on research design and methodologies
- Providing advice and guidance on data collection using focus groups, interviews, and case studies
- Leading and championing best practice for qualitative data collection and analysis as part of monitoring, evaluation, impact, and reporting across the organisation
- Take the lead on implementing improvements to evaluation processes to ensure effective qualitative data management and robust analytical and reporting processes
- Under the guidance of the Head of Impact and Research, work effectively with the wider Into Film team, including:
- Keeping colleagues up to date with new research as it is published
- Working closely with the digital team to understand and develop efficient data capture systems
- Working closely with internal teams to ensure data is effectively captured and analysed for quarterly and annual reporting
- Work effectively with external stakeholders to support Into Film’s impact and evaluation work, including:
- Supporting engagement with our Research and Insight Advisory Group
- Engaging with partnership research into the impact of using film in education, the benefits of filmmaking and film watching opportunities, and the impact of creative careers guidance and work experience for young people
- Effectively working with our established Youth Advisory Council and Education Advisory Group, ensuring their expertise informs our research and evaluation work

General Responsibilities
- Commitment to quality internally and in all dealings with Into Film’s stakeholders including teachers, children and young people, industry partners, funders, supporters, parents and carers, and members of the public
- Commitment and active participation in helping Into Film live its EEDI values and ethos through everything it does
- Contribute to long term planning to ensure growth in line with demand and resources
- Contribute to the regular monitoring and evaluation of Into Film’s work
- Any other reasonable duties assigned by Into Film
Person Specification
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience in an impact and/or evaluation function
- Qualitative data analysis expertise, through formal qualification or hands-on experience – must be comfortable with qualitative data management, analysis, and reporting
- Knowledge of the education, skills, creative industries, or charity sector space
- A collaborative colleague who will thrive in a dynamic, responsive cross-organisational role
- An excellent writer, presenter, and communicator who is willing to represent Into Film at in-person meetings and events
- Experience supporting design and delivery of effective and inclusive evaluation methodologies to demonstrate impact and gather useful learning from programme participants
- Demonstrable stakeholder management experience, working closely with colleagues and external research partners to support the delivery of multiple high-quality, robust, mixed-method evaluations
- Experience of supporting colleagues to use evaluation data alongside the wider research and evidence base to shape programme design
- Experience of providing data and support to external organisations who have been commissioned to provide specialised research
- Up-to-date knowledge of the formal education sector in England and at least one other devolved nation

Desirable:
- Experience of theory-based evaluation, formative evaluation, and implementation and process evaluation approaches
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite
- A love and knowledge of film
All employees regularly working with children and member data are required to undertake and maintain enhanced DBS clearance (and/or Access NI check or Disclosure Scotland check, depending on working location), acquired at Into Film’s expense; employment is dependent upon this.
