About The Role
Are you a conscientious, thorough, and reliable person who takes pride in maintaining high standards? If so, we would love to hear from you. We are looking for an Evening Cleaner to join our team at Corby Business Academy. This is a vital role within our Academy and plays an important part in ensuring the smooth and effective running of the school.
The role is physically demanding and involves cleaning to a consistently high standard, as well as lifting and moving furniture when required. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment across all areas of the school, including classrooms, offices, food technology, toilets, the restaurant, and other communal areas. The successful candidate will be required to work during term time, plus an additional three weeks during the school holidays. This role would suit someone who prefers to start their working day in the afternoon, enjoys working as part of a team, and takes genuine pride in their work. If you have excellent standards, a positive attitude, and an eye for detail, we would be delighted to hear from you.
The Site Team plays a vital role in the smooth and effective running of the Academy. Led by the Site Manager and supported by two Site Supervisors, the team is responsible for ensuring that our facilities are safe, clean, welcoming, and maintained to the highest standards. Our cleaning service is delivered in-house by a dedicated team of morning and evening cleaners, and we are now looking to strengthen our evening provision.
The Academy typically becomes quieter from around 4.00pm, once our after-school clubs have finished, providing an ideal opportunity for the evening cleaning team to focus on maintaining the highest standards across the site. All members of the Site Team undertake annual mandatory training, including COSHH training, ensuring that everyone has the knowledge and skills required to carry out their role safely and effectively.
We are proud of our cohesive and supportive team, where colleagues work together, look out for one another, and share a genuine passion for keeping the Academy looking its best. Everyone takes pride in their contribution and understands the important difference their work makes to our school community. If you join us, you will be getting more than just a job — you will become part of a team that values, supports, and cares about you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

In April 2023, the Academy was judged to be GOOD in all areas by OFSTED, who highlighted that:
- "Leaders have brought about significant improvement at this school. They focus on providing an ambitious curriculum for all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND)".
- "Leaders have raised their expectations of pupils’ behaviour and conduct, which is having a positive impact. Pupils behave very well in lessons. During lesson changeover times and at breaktimes, the school is calm and orderly".
- "Parents and carers are positive about the education their children receive. One view shared by many was, ‘My child has thrived, been supported, encouraged, cared for, and listened to at this school’."
