Umbrella - £17.68 per hour - Umbrella
Job Purpose
As an Evening Support Officer, you will provide facilities, porterage, security, and building support services across Broxtowe Borough Council offices. You will ensure the smooth operation of council buildings, assist visitors, support meetings and events, supervise cleaners, and help maintain a safe, secure, and professional working environment.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Provide porterage services across council offices.
- Deliver and distribute stationery, paper, consumables, and supplies.
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail.
- Assist with building security and surveillance.
- Open and close council buildings.
- Set and monitor intruder alarms and fire alarms.
- Supervise and allocate duties to cleaning staff.
- Assist with archive storage, retrieval, and document transfers.
- Maintain reception and public areas in a clean, safe, and welcoming condition.
- Assist visitors and members of the public with enquiries.
- Support building maintenance activities and report defects.
- Coordinate repairs relating to lifts, lighting, heating, security systems, and building services.
- Monitor the comfort and safety of the working environment.
- Set up rooms and facilities for meetings, events, and council functions.
- Provide support during Council and Committee meetings.
- Assist elected members and council officers with operational requirements.
- Support elections and busy corporate periods through overtime when required.

Essential Experience Required
- Previous Facilities Assistant, Porter, Caretaker, Building Support, Site Officer, Concierge, or Facilities Management experience.
- Experience working in a customer-facing environment.
- Experience opening and securing buildings.
- Experience handling deliveries, mail distribution, or logistics tasks.
- Experience supervising cleaners or facilities staff.
- Experience assisting with room bookings and event setups.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Reliable and flexible approach to work.
- Basic maintenance and facilities awareness.

Essential Qualifications Required
- Good standard of education.
- Right to Work in the UK.
Additional Information to Note
- Working Hours: 4 hours per day.
- Location: Council Offices, Nottingham, NG9 1AB.
- On-site interview.
- Supplier Submission Deadline: 9th October 2026.
- We work on bi-weekly payment schedule.
