Who we are
Trellis is an early-stage EdTech startup on a mission to streamline admin and support learning. Backed by CivTech and the Scottish Government's Directorate for Learning, our AI-powered platform tackles one of the biggest drivers of teacher burnout: the massive paperwork load behind Additional Support Needs (SEND) meetings and plans.
Our core principle is Human-in-Command. We use secure AI as a background assistant to transcribe meetings and draft structured plans and minutes, returning hundreds of hours back to teachers so they can focus on supporting young people. Following a successful pilot across 7 local authorities, we are expanding rapidly.
The role
We are looking for an enthusiastic former teacher, SEND specialist, or EdTech-savvy freelancer to join our CEO, Andy, on stand at upcoming major education expos.
Because Trellis supports complex, sensitive SEND meetings, you won't be doing hard sales or complex technical setups. Instead, you’ll be the friendly, knowledgeable face of Trellis: engaging school staff, sharing lived experiences, showing them our app, and gathering their contact details.

What you’ll be doing:
- Staffing our stand: You’ll help initiate warm, engaging conversations with teachers, SENCOs, and school leadership teams.
- Guided app walkthroughs: Show visitors the journey through the Trellis app using our step-by-step walkthrough.
- Contact capture: Collect details and notes from interested visitors so Andy and his colleagues can follow up after the event.
- [Optional] Event planning: If you have the skill and interest, we’d love your input ahead of events. This could be helping to craft flyer copy, planning stand logistics, or sourcing thoughtful giveaways.
Notes
- All briefing time and prep work outside of event days will be paid at the day rate, pro-rata.
- All reasonable travel (standard class rail or equivalent from a UK location), accommodation (where required), and meal expenses are fully covered by Trellis in line with our team travel policy.
- Events typically require either an early start, or travelling the day before in order to arrive and set up before the event opens.

What we’re looking for
- Education / SEND background: Experience working within UK education (e.g. ex-teacher, SENCO, teaching assistant, SEND practitioner, or in a relevant EdTech provider).
- Engaging communicator: Warm, approachable, empathetic, and comfortable starting conversations with busy event attendees.
- Tech-confident: Enthusiastic about technology and comfortable walking visitors through simple app walkthroughs on an iPad or laptop.
- Availability: Fully available for the 9th–10th October (London) and 18th–19th November (Birmingham) dates. Future events to be agreed ad hoc.
- Mission alignment: You understand teacher workload pressure and care deeply about helping support vulnerable learners.
